
Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Location: Commutable from Aylesbury, Tring, Berkhamsted, Pitstone & Leighton Buzzard
Salary: £60,000–£65,000 OTE | Monday–Friday Days | Excellent Overtime Rates
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join an established engineering team within a busy industrial manufacturing environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Mechanical Maintenance Engineer looking for a long-term position offering strong earning potential, enhanced overtime rates, training and genuine opportunities to develop and up-skill.
Experience within food manufacturing or FMCG would be advantageous but is not essential. Engineers with a strong mechanical maintenance background from other industrial or manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.
The Role
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will work as part of an experienced engineering team, carrying out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across a range of production machinery and plant.
Your responsibilities will include:
·Carrying out planned and preventative mechanical maintenance
·Reactive maintenance and mechanical fault-finding
·Repair and maintenance of production machinery and plant
·Working with conveyors, motors, pumps, valves and pneumatic systems
·Maintenance of silos and associated equipment
·General plant and machinery maintenance
·Responding to mechanical breakdowns
·Mechanical fault diagnosis and repair
·Fabrication and welding
·Working safely and effectively within a busy engineering environment
You will need to be confident using MIG and/or TIG welding equipment, together with general fabrication and workshop machinery.
Hours & Overtime
·Monday–Friday day shifts
·Working hours generally between 7:00am and 6:00pm
·Flexibility required around start and finish times
·Up to 50 hours per week including overtime
·Overtime paid at 1.5x after 7.5 hours worked per day
·Saturday mornings paid at 1.5x
·Saturday afternoons after 2:00pm paid at 2x
·Sundays paid at 2x
·Excellent opportunity to significantly increase earnings through overtime
Following a qualifying period, you will also join an approximately 1-in-3-week call-out rota.
Call-outs are paid at an enhanced rate, with a minimum payment of 3 hours per call-out.
About You
The successful Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will ideally have:
·Previous experience in mechanical maintenance
·Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
·MIG and/or TIG welding experience
·Fabrication experience
·Experience working with conveyors, pumps, motors, pneumatics and valves
·Experience within manufacturing, production, FMCG or food manufacturing would be advantageous
·A proactive and hands-on approach to maintenance
·Strong problem-solving skills
·The ability to work effectively as part of a team
·A willingness to learn new skills and develop professionally
·Flexibility to undertake overtime and call-out duties
