
Mechanical Engineer
Location: Northamptonshire
Salary: £44,000 per annum + Overtime

Our client, a well-established and successful manufacturing business, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team in Northamptonshire. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining production equipment, plant machinery, and site services to ensure maximum operational efficiency and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
·Fault finding, servicing, and repair of production machinery and plant equipment
·Maintenance of machine drive mechanisms and rotating machinery
·Planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production and process systems
·Maintenance and testing of plant services and site facilities
·Diagnosing and resolving mechanical faults efficiently
·Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and technical documentation
·Supporting continuous improvement and reliability initiatives
·Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures
Requirements
·Recognised engineering qualification such as Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, BTEC, City & Guilds, or equivalent industry experience
·Proven experience within a manufacturing, production, or industrial maintenance environment
·Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Experience working with:
·Conveyors
·Elevators
·Grinders
·Weighing equipment
·Rotating machinery
·Ability to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings
·Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance activities
Desirable Skills
·Multi-skilled engineer with mechanical bias and electrical fault-finding experience
·Pneumatics experience
·Previous experience within the food manufacturing industry
Working Hours
·Monday to Friday
·07:30 – 17:30
·1-hour lunch break
Daily overtime included:
·7.5 hours paid at basic rate
·1.5 hours paid at 1.5x overtime rate
Following a successful probation period (maximum 6 months), engineers participate in an on-call rota, typically one week in six, with the option to work night shifts during call-out weeks.
Please note: Applicants must be willing to participate in on-call rotas and work weekend overtime when required.
